Support for authorities in Switzerland Development of the correctional system

The Swiss Competence Center for Prisons Foundation SKJV supports cantonal institutions and the federal government in strategic planning and the development of the correctional system in Switzerland. In this context, the SKJV offers a wide range of educational opportunities to enable employees in the correctional system, as well as inmates in detention institutions, to keep up to date professionally.

The project

Management training in the correctional system should be able to build on a general understanding of the Swiss criminal law chain and deprivation of liberty. In order to reactivate the necessary basic knowledge, interactive self-study with two e-learning courses is made possible for learners with a wide range of educational backgrounds. Both courses are created in three languages for use in Switzerland.

Challenge: Source material in two languages

For two e-learning courses, the source material with complex legal texts and legal principles was provided on the one hand in German and on the other topic in French. Since the texts contained a very specific choice of words, the screenplays and initial versions of the e-learnings were also created in the appropriate source language. For the Italian language version, the texts from the translation were professionally checked.

Challenge: A very complex issue

The theoretical and quite complex foundations are combined with practice through a storytelling approach. Learners can thus obtain an overview of the actors in the criminal law chain and establish a direct connection to their working environment. This merges the complex texts and connections with clear foundations for management training.

Cooperation is required right from the start to map the individual stages of the criminal law chain. Now learners can familiarise themselves with the details.

Durch die Geschichte von Ben und Marie werden alle Akteurinnen und Akteure in der Strafrechtskette vorgestellt. Die Bildabfolge ist eine auflockernde Art und Weise für die Lernenden in die Geschichte einzutauchen.

Durch unterschiedliche Interaktionen können die wichtigsten Inhalte gefestigt werden. Die Lernenden dürfen in beiden Trainings aktiv mitarbeiten.

Durch eine klare visuelle Illustration können komplexe Zusammenhänge erklärt und anschaulich dargestellt werden.
