Evonik is active in specialty chemicals worldwide. The “Coating Additives” division provides a platform specifically for the transfer of knowledge and information regarding the products, their application and basic knowledge, the COATINO® Campus.
The 60-minute course is aimed at Evonik employees and customers who are interested in optimal use of Evonik products and can thus also acquire the necessary basic knowledge. Evonik employees as well as customers around the world are invited to this training.
The starting position
There was a lot of basic information for this training, such as curves, formulas, physical or chemical principles. This information should be combined with product information on Evonik additives for employees and customers worldwide. The topic of rheology should be presented attractively in order to arouse interest.
The approach
Since the introduction to rheology requires a lot of background information such as definitions, formulas, curves, diagrams, tables, etc., the learner is provided with a digital encyclopedia, the “Rheopedia”, which can be accessed at any time during training.
It is easy to navigate back and forth between the training content and the background information in the encyclopedia.
In order to create a connection between theory, principles and practice, a somewhat personal and playful approach was chosen with a character, Prof. Fluido, who anticipates the students' questions and presents the content from the Rheopedia approach. This support can be actively selected by learners.
The implementation
A teaser video introduces the topic and invites interested parties to delve a bit deeper into the details of rheology.
The e-learning was vividly presented using a mixture of real images, including from the laboratory, illustrations and graphics. Numerous interactions, but also animations and short video excerpts, offer variety for learners.
